Jesus in the Old Testament

Group Description: The entire Bible is a story about who God is, what His purpose is, and how He interacts with us. There's no "OT" God and "NT" God: He's the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The same is true for Jesus! The Old Testament reveals many truths about how Jesus works in our lives today. Join us as we read through the Historical Books of the Old Testament to learn more about Jesus's calling for our lives today, viewed through the lens of the stories of Israel's people. This semester will focus on Ezra and Nehemiah.

The Forged Heart: A Men's Journey of Repentance and Renewal (Men's Group)

Group Description:
Mission Statement: To create a safe and confidential space for men to confront their past actions, cultivate a truly repentful heart, and walk in the freedom of a renewed life through accountability, spiritual discipline, and mutual support.
Core Principles:
Radical Honesty: We believe that true repentance begins with unvarnished honesty—first with God, then with ourselves, and finally with one another. We will create a non-judgmental environment where men can confess their struggles, failures, and sins without fear of condemnation.
Repentance as an Action: We define repentance not just as sorrow for sin, but as a turning away from sin and a turning toward God. Our focus will be on the practical steps of change, including making amends, establishing new habits, and seeking restoration.
Accountability as a Lifeline: We recognize that lasting change is difficult to achieve alone. Each man will be encouraged to find an accountability partner or a small sub-group within the larger group to share weekly progress, struggles, and prayer requests.
Grace and Forgiveness: While we will not shy away from the seriousness of sin, our ultimate hope is rooted in the grace and forgiveness offered through faith. We will regularly remind each other of this foundation, ensuring the group remains a place of hope, not despair.
Spiritual Formation: The group will be built around spiritual disciplines that foster a repentful heart, such as prayer, Scripture study, meditation, and service to others.

Ladies' Group  (Greene County)

Group Description: I Want to Trust You But I Don't by Lysa TerKeurst
Trust is the oxygen of all human relationships. But it's also what trips you up after you've been burned. Maybe a friend constantly lets you down. A leader or organization you respect turns out to be different than they portray themselves to be. A spouse cheats on you. A family member betrays you. You're exhausted by other people's choices and starting to question your own discernment. And you're wondering, If God let this happen, can he even be trusted?
How can you live well and step into the future when you keep stumbling over trust issues? Lysa TerKeurst says it's not simply about finding better people to walk with. It's about developing the stability you long for within yourself and with God, so you don't become cynical and carry a broken belief system into every new relationship. In I Want to Trust You, But I Don't, Lysa shows you how to
* Identify which of the eleven relational red flags are stirring up distrust, so you can pinpoint why you're feeling uneasy;
*Stop having more faith in your fears coming true than God coming through for you by asking crucial "what if" questions to better process your doubts;
*Recognize when a fractured relationship can be repaired by considering a reasonable list of characteristics necessary for rebuilding trust; and
*Understand the physical, emotional, and neurological impact of the betrayals you've experienced and start healing from the inside out.
In a world where so many things feel alarming, this book will give you a peace that isn't dependent on unpredictable people, circumstances, and experiences. Instead, it offers practical and biblical ways to make real progress toward healthier perspectives, relationships, and a future you can authentically look forward to.

Women's Group (Charlottesville)

Group Description: Well-Watered Woman by Gretchen Saffles
Discover the bottomless, refreshing Well of God’s Word―and experience a fullness and peace beyond your circumstances.
In the busy chaos of our everyday, it can be difficult to live out and apply the truths of Scripture. We want more of Jesus, but we find ourselves looking to our own lives and accomplishments for our worth and identity. And while that may buoy us for a time, we’re often left feeling dried up, discouraged, and longing for more. Gretchen Saffles knows what it’s like to feel overwhelmed and unable to flourish. In The Well-Watered Woman, Gretchen leads us to:
*The Well of fullness – where the gospel is planted in our lives and our roots take hold in the truth.
*The Word of freedom – our journey of growing, changing, and being transformed into Jesus’ likeness.
*The Way of fruitfulness – how obedience and love keeps us flourishing in Christ.
